Vessel for hire
PEIFA is assisting DFO in seeking a qualified captain, crew and vessel for a Biodiversity study of the Northumberland Strait.
The candidate will need to be available during the two project periods of May 10-June 11, 2010 and July 5-16, 2010. 
The project includes up to 67 stations (two tows per station) in various areas across the Northumberland Strait. 
Requirements include but are not limited to:
  1. Fishermen must have fished scallops in the last two fishing seasons (08-09) and cannot participate in any commercial fishery during the project periods.
  2. Captain must have a Limited Master Certificate (or Master IV with intention of completing written/oral exam)
  3. Vessel needs to be Stern A frame and be able to reach cruising speed of 15 knots.
  4. Vessel needs current Transport Canada Marine Safety Inspection.  Other inspections are needed but can be completed after contract is awarded.
