2018 PEIFA LOBSTER FISHING AREA 24 QUESTIONNAIRE

THESE ARE THE RESULTS OF THE QUESTIONNAIRE AND ALL MANAGEMENT MEASURES PUT FORWARD WILL BE SUBJECT TO DFO APPROVAL. 

 ·        Ballots counted on November 7th, 2018 by 6 scrutineers at the Farm Centre, Charlottetown.

 ·        494 returned questionnaires out of a total of 601 LFA 24 commercial lobster license holders. This equates to an 82.2% return rate. Of the 494, there was one spoiled questionnaire.

 

 

  1. Do you support a lobster carapace size increase in LFA 24 for the 2019 fishing season?

                184 YES, Increase by 1 mm (from 73mm to 74mm) (37.3%)                                            

                      308 NO, but revisit in 2019 (62.5%)

 

1     SPOILED BALLOT (0.2%)

 

   2. Do you support reverting back to a window lobster (115mm – 129mm) from a maximum size (115mm) for the 2019 season?

 

353 YES (71.6%)                               

                      140  NO (28.4%)

 3.  Do you support a trap reduction in LFA 24 in 2019?

 

153 YES (31%)                                              

                      337 NO (68.4%)
